Saddanīti – Introduction There are three volumes in Saddanīti 1. padamālā – explains the inflection – conjugation, declension 2.Dhātumālā- explains roots 3.Suttamālā –explains sandhi, nāma. Saddanīti is more complete and more modernize than other grammar books like Kaccāyana, padarūpasidhi. Some words that are not explained in these books are explained in the Saddanīti. Each books has 2 volumes, one volume has about 400 pages. So, there are more than 2500 pages. This book is written by Aggavaṃsa. In some records like Sāsāna Laṅkāra said that Agga Paṇḍita had written the books. At that time, there were three persons well-known in the knowledge in the Tipiṭaka. 1. Mahā Aggapaṇḍita, 2) Aggapaṇḍita 3) Aggapaṇḍita. The third one was the nephew to the second one and he was the one that had written the book.
